Erbin Hall Dedication

At long last the renovation of Jacquelyn M. Erbin Hall was completed yesterday, March 20, 2017, as faculty and students resumed classes in their new classrooms after the reprieve of Spring Break. We were honored to have Bishop Solis dedicate and bless the building, following a celebration of Mass of the Solemnity of St. Joseph at the Cathedral. The celebration also included the recognition of three key individuals who worked tirelessly to complete this very complex, historic restoration. The St. Cecilia Award was bestowed upon the project architect Brian McCarthy, and Ryan Hales and Tim Duke, our project managers with Okland Construction. Their hard work and dedication -- combined with the kindness and generosity of many donors, including our lead donors: The Emma Eccles Jones Foundation and The ALSAM Foundation -- were crucial to its completion. The Madeleine Choir School wishes to extend its sincerest gratitude to the many, many people who supported this effort over the past decade and a half, as the completion of this renovation will enable the Choir School to continue its mission to inspire young people to become engaged scholars, effective communicators, dedicated liturgical musicians, and responsible world citizens who seek to build a civilization of justice, mercy and love. You shall not oppress or afflict a resident alien,
for you were once aliens residing in the land of Egypt.
You shall not wrong any widow or orphan.
If ever you wrong them and they cry out to me,
I will surely listen to their cry.

Exodus 22:20-22

When I was a stranger, you welcomed me.
Jesus of Nazareth

Let us pray.

Lord God,

to whom no one is a stranger

and from whose loving care none is ever distant,

look with compassion on refugees and exiles,

on displaced persons and abandoned children.

Render justice to the oppressed

and rouse us to do what is right,
that our society may be cleansed and made new.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, pray for us.

St. Frances Cabrini, patron of migrants, pray for us.

St. Mary Magdalene, loyal companion at the Cross, pray for us.

Mr. Glenn's Message to Students After the Election

Dear Students and Friends,

On Tuesday of this week our nation took part in a great exercise of our democracy through the popular election of a president and members of congress for the coming respective terms. With the mandate of the people, a new president has been elected, members of congress re-elected or newly elected, prompting us to now pray that God will bless and endow our new President and other political leaders with wisdom, right judgment, careful discernment and a passion for justice and liberty for all people. We must pray that the President and Congressional leaders will be committed to advancing the common good for the people of this nation and the world, and dedicated to protecting the dignity of each and every human life, whether they are Jewish, Christian or Muslim, Caucasian, Hispanic or African American, refugee or...

MCS Alums Perform as US Ambassadors in Russia

MCS alums Marc Day and Jessica Beebe are performing Maximillian Steinberg’s Passion in Russia. The composition was recently discovered in New York after being hidden for over 50 years. The woman who discovered the hidden gems in the wake of her father's passing, gave the manuscripts to Steven Fox, Artistic Director and Conductor of The Clarion Choir. After the choir recorded the piece, the U.S. State Department sent the Choir to St. Petersburg and Moscow to perform it as a gift from the United States to Russia.
