MCS Inaugural High School Choral Festival

The Madeleine Choir School partnered with local high school choirs and other talented musicians in presenting the High School Choral Festival at the Cathedral of the Madeleine on February 21, 2019. Accompanied by local orchestral musicians the Waterford School Troubadours, the Juan Diego Catholic High School Concert Choir, the Choral Scholars of the Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, and the St. John Bosco Choir of the Madeleine Choir School joined by the Cathedral of the Madeleine Organist, Gabriele Terrone to present the music of Fauré, Todd, Aguiar, Durante, Aichinger, Duruflé, Szymko, Widor and Williams.
Solos were performed by Madeleine Klement, soprano; Emma Holmgren, alto; Owen Purcell, tenor; and Jossan Arano, bass.
This concert performance is the third presentation as part of the inaugural Cathedral Family Series Concerts which aim to introduce children to sacred choral music, to encourage all to raise their voices together in song, and to provide students in the Salt Lake community the opportunity to perform in the beautiful Cathedral of the Madeleine.
The fourth and final concert in this series at the Cathedral of the Madeleine will saw the Choristers of the Madeleine Choir School join in performance with the Gift Music School Conservatory Orchestra on May 2, 2019, with a presentation of Poulenc's Litanies a la Vierge Noire and other selections.  Click here to see an excerpt of that performance.
