MCS Seventh Grader Earns First Place in ULCT Essay Contest

This community awareness contest is open to students in fourth and seventh grades each year. Some teachers have commented that the contest enhances the social studies curriculum for these two grades by giving students and opportunity and some encouragement to look at their communities in new ways.

Cash prizes for the winners are awarded to first, second and third places for each grade level. Grant received $100 for his winning essay and his school received $1,000.

As a first place winner, Grant will also be invited to read his essay at the 2015 fall conference of the Utah League of cities and Towns.  Please see the attached link for a preview of the essay.
