MCS After-school Clubs

Announcing FIVE NEW After-school Clubs

Registration is now closed.
HOWEVER, if you are interested in signing up for one or more of the after-school clubs,
please contact Principal Yost directly. 


These clubs are open to all MCS students in Grades 4-8 and include:

  • Tuesday LEGO Club
  • Wednesday Sewing and Mending Club
  • Wednesday Calligraphy Club
  • Thursday Board Game Club
  • Friday Hiking Club


Cost for each club is $100 for the semester (February 5 - May 24). Limited slots available for each club. Click below for more details on specific clubs.

Tuesday LEGO Club
Instructor: Mr. Luke Stager
3:45 - 4:30 on Tuesdays beginning January 23 - May 21
Cost: $100

LEGO Club is a relaxed community of creative builders. Students will be free to work on their own extended projects over the course of several weeks or to make new things as they wish each week. We will explore the world of LEGO creations online as a means of inspiration for creativity, engineering, and storytelling.

Wednesday Sewing & Mending Club
Instructor: Ms. Grace Bardugon
3:45 - 4:45 on Wednesdays beginning January 24 - May 22
Cost: $100

Would you like to learn how to mend or modify your clothes and learn basic hand sewing techniques to create your own projects? Join Ms. Grace for her sewing and mending club!

Wednesday Calligraphy Club
Instructor: Mr. Luke Stager
3:45 - 4:15 on Wednesdays beginning January 24 - May 22
Cost: $100

Learn the basic rudiments of calligraphy with Mr. Stager! Students will be provided with beginner felt tip pens and paper to use. We will learn the basics of Italic and Uncial calligraphic styles, perhaps moving on to other styles as needed. Students will be encouraged to complete a type of capstone opus each semester for display at the school.

Thursday Board Game Club
Instructor: Mr. Jesus Avila
3:45 - 5:00PM on Wednesdays beginning January 24 - May 22
Cost: $100

 

MCS Board Games Club promotes educational fun, screen-free entertainment and friendship building. The game collection will vary from classic favorites to modern games. Let your child experience the joy of hands-on, interactive play in a positive inclusive environment. Join us for evenings of laughter, learning and lasting memories.

 

 

Friday Hiking Club (and some Saturday Hikes!)
Instructor: Mr. Matthew Yost
Fridays and some Saturdays beginning January 26 - May 24 (See specific dates in description below.)
Cost: $100

 

The MCS Hiking Club is founded with the goals of forming community, encouraging physical activity, and fostering knowledge and love of our beautiful natural surroundings. The Club will meet once a month, each, for classroom education (on campus), after-school hikes (in the Aves, departing from and returning to campus on foot), and Saturday day-hikes (meet at local trailheads within an hour drive from campus). Enrolled students and their families are welcome to join as many activities as they are able! 

  • Friday classroom education 3:30-4:30 PM (one moved to Thursday*):
    Jan 26, Feb 23, Mar 21*, Apr 19, May 24 (party!)

  • Friday after-school hikes, 3:30-5:00 PM:
    Feb 2, Mar 15, Apr 26, May 10

  • Saturday morning day-hikes (specific times will be communicated to those enrolled):
    Feb 24, Mar 2, Apr 13, May 18
