The Madeleine Choir School

ABOUT

The Madeleine Choir School, located in the heart of Salt Lake City, is a Catholic Pre-K through eighth grade learning community that is far more than a music school.  It offers students a holistic approach to exceptional age appropriate learning, as proven by the success of the Choir School alumni in their higher education and professional careers.  The Choir School music curriculum is unmatched, but also offers outstanding instruction in the humanities, mathematics and the sciences, as well as foreign languages, visual arts, theology, and athletics.

HISTORY

The Choir School was established to provide an exciting learning environment combining the best in Catholic school education with the enriched curriculum of a European choir school. Begun as an after-school choir training program, The Madeleine Choir School was founded as a full-time middle school in the basement of the Cathedral of the Madeleine in 1996. In the fall of 2003, the Choir School opened its doors as a complete K-8 elementary school on its new campus in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City. In 2007 a Pre-Kindergarten program was added.

ACCREDITATION

The Madeleine Choir School is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA). WCEA accredits Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine western states (26 (arch) dioceses) and the US Territory of Guam. WCEA co-accredits and is in partnership with three Regional agencies (WASC, NAAS, NCA CASI) and two private agencies (CAIS and HAIS). WCEA began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and successful history of assisting school improvement through the accreditation process.
